A fresh western disturbance is expected to make weather conditions unstable across parts of northern, north-western and central India from Monday, 26 January 2026, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Key risks flagged by IMD
- Heavy snowfall in higher reaches in the Himalayas, with travel disruptions possible.
- Thunderstorms, hailstorms and gusty winds across multiple states.
- Fog and cold-wave conditions continuing in some pockets ahead of the next system.
The IMD outlook indicates the system is likely to intensify through 27 January before gradually weakening from 28 January, though unsettled conditions may persist.
