India Women Begin Asia Cup With 94-Run Win

India opened their 2026 Women’s T20 Asia Cup campaign with a 94-run victory over Thailand in Dubai on August 31, posting 159/9 before bowling out Thailand for 65.

Thailand struggled in reply and were dismissed for 65, giving India a comprehensive victory in the opening match of the tournament.

Deepti Sharma and Nandani Sharma claimed three wickets each for India. Deepti finished with extraordinary figures of 3/0, while the two bowlers combined to account for six of Thailand’s wickets.

India’s total of 159/9 left Thailand needing a demanding chase, but the innings never developed as the side lost wickets and was eventually bowled out for 65.

The result gives India a winning start to their campaign in the Women’s T20 Asia Cup. The match also featured a strong all-round performance from India, with Verma supplying the bulk of the runs and the bowling attack completing the job without allowing Thailand to build a substantial response.
